    SynSig2Vec: Learning Representations from Synthetic Dynamic Signatures for Real-world Verification

    An open research problem in automatic signature verification is the skilled forgery attacks. However, the skilled forgeries are very difficult to acquire for representation learning. To tackle this issue, this paper proposes to learn dynamic signature representations through ranking synthesized signatures. First, a neuromotor inspired signature synthesis method is proposed to synthesize signatures with different distortion levels for any template signature. Then, given the templates, we construct a lightweight one-dimensional convolutional network to learn to rank the synthesized samples, and directly optimize the average precision of the ranking to exploit relative and fine-grained signature similarities. Finally, after training, fixed-length representations can be extracted from dynamic signatures of variable lengths for verification. One highlight of our method is that it requires neither skilled nor random forgeries for training, yet it surpasses the state-of-the-art by a large margin on two public benchmarks.Comment: To appear in AAAI 202

    a kai style contour beautification method for chinese handwriting characters

    In this paper, we propose a novel contour-based method to beautify online handwritten Chinese character to the Kai style calligraphy. According to the feature and structure of Kai style calligraphy, Bezier curve is used to sketch the user-input stroke segment contour and the corner contour. We get the whole contour path of beautified character by connecting stroke segments' contour and corners' contour end-to-end. Anti-aliasing technology is used to make the edge of the contour fine and smooth. Finally, the path-fill algorithm is adopted to fill the inner of the contour. Our system is proved to be effective and efficient. Meanwhile, users can choose any color for the contour and the inner, which is more convenient for users' design. ©2010 IEEE

    Secure Beamforming Design for Rate-Splitting Multiple Access in Multi-antenna Broadcast Channel with Confidential Messages

    As physical layer security evolves to multi-user systems, multi-user interference (MUI) becomes an unavoidable issue. Recently, rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) emerges as a powerful non-orthogonal transmission framework and interference management strategy with high spectral efficiency. Unlike most works fully treating MUI as noise, we take all users' secrecy rate requirements into consideration and propose an RSMA-based secure beamforming approach to maximize the weighted sum-rate (WSR), where MUI is partially decoded and partially treated as noise. User messages are split and encoded into common and private streams. Each user not only decodes the common stream and the intended private stream, but also tries to eavesdrop other users' private streams. A successive convex approximation (SCA)-based approach is proposed to maximize the instantaneous WSR under perfect channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT). We then propose a joint weighted minimum mean square error and SCA-based alternating optimization algorithm to maximize the weighted ergodic sum-rate under imperfect CSIT. Numerical results demonstrate RSMA achieves better WSR and is more robust to channel errors than conventional multi-user linear precoding technique while ensuring all users' security requirements. Besides, RSMA can satisfy all users' secrecy rate requirements without introducing WSR loss thanks to its powerful interference management capability.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2201.0847

    Rapid Colorimetric Detection of Cartap Residues by AgNP Sensor with Magnetic Molecularly Imprinted Microspheres as Recognition Elements

    The overuse of cartap in tea tree leads to hazardous residues threatening human health. A colorimetric determination was established to detect cartap residues in tea beverages by silver nanoparticles (AgNP) sensor with magnetic molecularly imprinted polymeric microspheres (Fe3O4@mSiO2@MIPs) as recognition elements. Using Fe3O4 as supporting core, mesoporous SiO2 as intermediate shell, methylacrylic acid as functional monomer, and cartap as template, Fe3O4@mSiO2@MIPs were prepared to selectively and magnetically separate cartap from tea solution before colorimetric determination by AgNP sensors. The core-shell Fe3O4@mSiO2@MIPs were also characterized by FT-IR, TEM, VSM, and experimental adsorption. The Fe3O4@mSiO2@MIPs could be rapidly separated by an external magnet in 10 s with good reusability (maintained 95.2% through 10 cycles). The adsorption process of cartap on Fe3O4@mSiO2@MIPs conformed to Langmuir adsorption isotherm with maximum adsorption capacity at 0.257 mmol/g and short equilibrium time of 30 min at 298 K. The AgNP colorimetric method semi-quantified cartap ≥5 mg/L by naked eye and quantified cartap 0.1–5 mg/L with LOD 0.01 mg/L by UV-vis spectroscopy. The AgNP colorimetric detection after pretreatment with Fe3O4@mSiO2@MIPs could be successfully utilized to recognize and detect cartap residues in tea beverages

    Production of Triploid Germplasm by Inducing 2n Pollen in Longan

    Longan (Dimocarpus longan Lour.) is of great economic significance in South China for its unique taste and nutritional properties. However, longan breeding is mainly based on seedling selection, which generally results in small fruits, low flesh recovery, and few seedless germplasm. Triploid breeding is a central way to improve these problems. In this study, microspore chromosomes were doubled by colchicine and high-temperature treatment to create triploids in longans. The relationship between the development process of male gametophyte of longans and the morphological changes of male flower buds was established. Cytological observation showed that when the male flower buds were in stage I (when the diameter of the flower bud is 1.4–2.0 mm), most of the microspores were at the pachytene to diakinesis stage of meiosis, and the chromosome doubling induction effect was the best at this stage. The results showed that the 2n pollen rate induced by a high temperature of about 38 °C was higher than that induced by colchicine treatment. The highest 2n pollen rate was 5.7% and 5.5% based on the microscopic measurement method and the abnormal separation in tetrad stage estimation method, respectively. Four triploids were successfully obtained from artificial pollination with 2n pollen, with a triploid induction rate of 0.6%. This study will promote ploidy breeding in longan

    Developing radio frequency (RF) heating protocol in packed tofu processing by computer simulation

    Packed tofu was produced by reheating the mixture of preheated soymilk and coagulant in a sealed container. This study aimed to replace the conventional heating method with RF heating during the reheating of soymilk for packed tofu production. In this study, dielectric properties (DPs), thermal properties (TPs), and rheological properties of soymilk were determined. A mathematical model was developed to simulate the RF heating process of soymilk to determine the appropriate packaging geometry. Water holding capacity (WHC), texture analysis, color measurement, and microstructure observation were performed to evaluate the quality of RF-heated packed tofu. Results showed that soymilk added with Glucono-Delta-Lactone (GDL) coagulated at the temperature above 60 °C, and the loss factor (ε″) was slightly reduced when soymilk was converted to tofu at coagulation temperature. Based on the simulation results, the cylindrical vessel (φ50 mm × 100 mm) was chosen as the soymilk container for desired heating rate (5.9 °C/min) and uniformity (λ = 0.0065, 0.0069, 0.0016 for top, middle, and bottom layers). The texture analysis revealed that the hardness and chewiness of packed tofu prepared by RF heating were enhanced (maximum 1.36 times and 1.21 times) compared with commercial packed tofu, while the springiness were not significantly changed. Furthermore, the denser network structure was observed inside RF-heated packed tofu by SEM. These results indicated that packed tofu prepared by RF heating was of higher gel strength and sensory quality. RF heating has the potential to be applied in packed tofu production

    Prevalence and Related Factors of Insomnia Among Chinese Medical Staff in the Middle and Late Stage of COVID-19

    Background: The outbreak of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has brought serious psychological pressure to people, especially medical health staff. At present, there are few studies on insomnia and related factors of medical health staff in the middle and late stage of the epidemic of COVID-19. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of insomnia and its related risk factors among medical workers in China in the middle and later stage of COVID-19 epidemic, as well as the relationship between insomnia and psychological resilience. Methods: From February 14 to March 29, 2020, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among 606 medical staff in China through Ranxing Technology&#39;s &quot;SurveyStar&quot; network platform. All subjects were assessed with the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) and simplified Chinese version of Connor-Davidson Resilience scale (CD-RISC-10). Results: In the middle and later stages of the COVID-19 outbreak, the incidence of insomnia among medical staff was 32.0%. Compared with non-insomnia group, the insomnia group had younger age, lower education level, longer daily working hours and less psychological resilience. In addition, the prevalence of insomnia was higher in medical staff with a history of somatic diseases. The severity of insomnia of Chinese medical staff was associated with age, education level, daily working hours, psychological resilience and somatic diseases. Conclusions: Our study shows that nearly 1/3 of Chinese medical workers suffer from insomnia nearly a month after the COVID-19 outbreak. Compared with the general population, medical staff who are working with COVID are more prone to insomnia. Risk factors for insomnia include younger age, lower education level, longer working hours per day, and physical illness. The tenacious dimension of psychological resilience is a protective factor for insomnia.</p

    Sexual Dysfunction in Chronically Medicated Male Inpatients With Schizophrenia: Prevalence, Risk Factors, Clinical Manifestations, and Response to Sexual Arousal

    BackgroundSexual dysfunction is a common symptom in patients with schizophrenia, especially in chronically medicated patients. However, the relationship between sexual dysfunction and emotional response to sexual arousal in male patients with schizophrenia remains unclear. This study aimed to assess the incidence, risk factors of sexual dysfunction in males, and their clinical correlations to sexual arousal in male patients with schizophrenia in China. MethodsA total of 162 male patients, aged 18-50 years, with schizophrenia were recruited from a psychiatric hospital in Ganzhou. The clinical symptoms were assessed by the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). The Arizona Sexual Experience Scale was utilized to evaluate sexual dysfunction. Erotic images were selected from International Affective Picture System (IAPS). Sixty-eight out of the 162 subjects completed the erotic pictures reactivity task. ResultsOverall, 48 (29.6%) patients were measured as having global sexual dysfunction, 72 (44.4%) patients as having strength of sex drive dysfunction, 51 (31.5%) patients as having sexual arousal dysfunction, 55 (34.0%) patients as having penile erection dysfunction, 60 (37.0%) patients as having reached orgasm dysfunction, and 60 (37.0%) patients as having satisfaction with orgasm dysfunction. The sexual dysfunction patients had significantly higher scores on the negative symptoms of the PANSS. The only important predictor of sexual dysfunction was the severity of PANSS negative factor. The sense of pleasure and arousal post viewing erotic images in the sexual dysfunction group were lower compared to the non-sexual dysfunction group. The sense of pleasure and approach motivation were significantly negatively correlated with the severity of sexual dysfunction. ConclusionsThis study shows that nearly one-third of young and middle-aged chronically medicated male inpatients with schizophrenia suffer from sexual dysfunction. The negative factor of the PANSS can be regarded as the risk factor of sexual dysfunction. Schizophrenia patients with sexual dysfunction experienced lower pleasure and higher avoidance motivation than non-sexual dysfunction patients when exposed to erotic stimuli.</p
